What is collected, why, how long it is kept and what is never collected at all.
This site collects very little, because it does very little. This page describes exactly what is collected and why.
There is no registration, no login and no profile anywhere on this site. Nothing you do here is attached to an identity, because there is no identity to attach it to.
The web server keeps standard request logs: the requested address, response code, transfer size, referring page and browser identification string. Logs are used to find broken pages, to spot mirrors failing at scale, and to identify traffic hammering the search endpoint. They are rotated and discarded on a short cycle and are not combined with anything else.
Search queries are sent to this site's own endpoint as you type, matched against the catalog, and answered. Queries are counted in aggregate so we know what people look for that is not listed, which feeds the requests queue. Individual queries are not stored against anything identifying and are not shared.
The contact form and the requests form store what you type into them so that a person can act on it. That is the name, email and message you submitted, or the title, version, category, optional email and details. It is stored so the queue can be worked through, and it is deleted once the matter is closed. Neither form is used to build a mailing list and neither address is ever passed to anyone else.
This site does not set cookies. There is no session to maintain, no preference to remember and no analytics package to feed. Your browser may keep the stylesheet and script in its own cache, which is ordinary browser behaviour rather than anything this site controls.
No analytics service, advertising network, tracking pixel, embedded widget or externally hosted font is used on any page. Everything a page needs is served by this site. That is a deliberate choice and it is why pages load as fast as they do.
Mirrors are operated separately and keep their own logs under their own policies. Once a transfer begins, it is between you and the mirror.
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them. Since it collects almost nothing from anyone, this is largely academic.
If you sent something through either form and want it removed before it would ordinarily be deleted, ask through the contact page and quote enough detail to identify it. It will be removed.
If what is collected changes, this page changes with it, and the change is noted on the home page for a period afterwards.
