Overview
Acrobat Pro is the reference implementation for the PDF format, which matters more than it sounds. When a document has to render identically on a printer, a phone, a court filing system and a colleague's ten year old reader, the tool that defined the format is the one that gets it right.
Editing is genuinely editing. Text reflows within a paragraph, fonts are matched and substituted where the original is not embedded, images can be replaced and cropped in place, and pages can be inserted, extracted, rotated, split and reordered without leaving the document. Scanned paper runs through OCR that recognises text in dozens of languages and produces a searchable layer over the original image.
Conversion runs in both directions. PDFs export to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML and image formats with layout and tables preserved rather than dumped as loose text, and almost anything printable converts into PDF through the virtual printer, with dedicated integrations into the Office applications for keeping bookmarks and links intact.
The protection and review tools are where the Pro tier earns its name. True redaction removes the underlying content rather than drawing a black box over it, sanitisation strips metadata and hidden layers, permissions and passwords control printing and copying, digital signatures with certificate support cover approval workflows, and document comparison marks every difference between two revisions side by side.

Installation Notes
- Uninstall the free Reader first. Pro includes reading, and having both installed causes file association ping pong.
- If you want the Office ribbon integration, install after Office rather than before.
- Set your default PDF handler in Windows settings after install rather than accepting the browser prompt.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
