Overview

Windows 10 Professional remains the operating system a very large number of workstations are still running, and for good reason. The driver situation is completely settled, older professional software runs without compatibility shims, and the interface does not move under you between updates. This is the 22H2 servicing branch, the final feature line for the platform.

The Professional edition adds the pieces Home leaves out: BitLocker full disk encryption with TPM or password unlock, Hyper-V for local virtual machines, Remote Desktop as a host rather than only a client, Group Policy for local machine configuration, domain join, and the deferral controls that let you decide when a feature update lands instead of having one arrive mid render.

The image is multilingual. Display language is selected during setup and can be changed afterwards from settings without a reinstall, and the input method and regional format options are independent of the display language, which matters for anyone typing in one language and formatting numbers for another.

For hardware, this is the sensible target for machines that cannot meet the newer platform requirements. There is no TPM 2.0 floor, no secure boot mandate, and no processor generation cutoff, so older workstations and laptops that are otherwise perfectly capable stay usable rather than becoming e waste.

Installation Notes

  • Back up anything you care about before touching partitions. A clean install removes the target partition contents.
  • Write the image to a USB stick of 8 GB or larger with a tool that handles the boot sector correctly.
  • Disconnect secondary drives during setup so the boot loader is written to the disk you actually intend to boot from.

Before You Start

Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.

There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.

If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.

Frequently Asked

Clean install or upgrade in place?

Clean install for a machine that has accumulated years of software. Upgrade in place if you need to keep applications and settings and the existing install is healthy.

Will it run on hardware that is blocked from the newer version?

Yes. That is the main reason people still choose it. There is no TPM or processor generation gate.

Can I change the display language later?

Yes, from language settings. No reinstall is needed since the image carries the packs.
