Overview
Internet Download Manager has been the default answer to slow and unreliable downloads on Windows for two decades, and the reason is the segmenting engine. Rather than pulling a file down a single connection, it opens up to thirty two simultaneous streams against the same source, fills them in parallel and stitches the pieces together on completion. On a connection where a single stream never saturates the line, the difference is not subtle.
The second reason people install it is resume. A dropped connection, a router reboot, a laptop lid closing mid transfer, none of these cost you the file. The manager keeps segment state on disk and picks up exactly where it stopped, including on servers that only partially support resume, where it falls back gracefully rather than restarting from zero.
Browser integration is handled by an extension that installs into Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and the Chromium derivatives. Once it is in place, clicking any link that resolves to a file hands the transfer to the manager, and a floating panel appears over embedded media so a stream can be captured as a local file in one click. Filters control which extensions are intercepted so ordinary browsing is not disturbed.
Around the core there is a full manager: a queue with scheduling, speed limiting so a large transfer does not starve a video call, categories that sort finished files by type into folders, site login credentials stored per host, ZIP preview before the archive finishes, virus checker handoff on completion, and a command line interface for scripting batch jobs.
Key Features
- Dynamic file segmentation with up to 32 parallel connections per transfer
- Resume for broken, dropped and timed out downloads, including partial resume support
- Browser integration for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Chromium forks
- Media grabber panel over embedded players for capturing streams as local files
- Queues with scheduling, dial on demand and shutdown after completion
- Bandwidth limiter with per queue speed caps
- Category rules that route finished files into folders by type
- Site credential store for hosts behind a login
- ZIP preview and partial archive inspection before completion
- Command line interface for scripted and batch downloading
What Changed in This Build
- Updated browser integration for the current Chrome and Firefox extension platforms
- Improved capture on adaptive streaming players that fragment their media

Installation Notes
- After installing, open your browser once and confirm the extension prompt so integration registers.
- If a site refuses parallel connections, drop that host to a single stream in the connection settings rather than disabling segmenting globally.
- Set a speed cap on your default queue if you share the connection with anyone who takes calls.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.
Frequently Asked
The major Chromium browsers and Firefox are covered by the extension. Anything else can still receive downloads through the clipboard monitor or by pasting a link into the manager.
It speeds up transfers where a single connection does not saturate your line. On a fast link against a fast server the gain is smaller.
The grabber panel appears over supported players and captures the media stream as a file when the player exposes one.
