Overview
Lightroom Classic is the desktop, catalog based half of the Lightroom family, and it is the one working photographers use. Files stay where you put them on your own disks, the catalog holds the edits and metadata, and nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly ask for it. For a wedding shooter coming home with three thousand frames, that model is not negotiable.
The Library module is a proper asset manager: folders and collections, smart collections driven by rules, keyword hierarchies, flags, colour labels, star ratings, face detection, map placement from embedded coordinates, and a filter bar that will find the one frame you half remember out of a hundred thousand.
The Develop module carries the current raw engine with full camera and lens profile support. Exposure, tone curve, HSL, colour grading across shadows, midtones and highlights, detail and noise reduction including the AI denoise pass, lens corrections, transform and perspective, spot removal with content aware healing, and a masking system that can select subject, sky, background, objects and people by body part, then combine those selections with intersect and subtract.
Everything is non destructive and everything is repeatable. Presets and profiles apply on import or in bulk, sync copies a develop state across an entire selection, virtual copies let you keep several treatments of one frame, and export presets push the finished set to disk at whatever size, sharpening and colour space the client asked for.

Installation Notes
- Keep the catalog on your fastest internal drive even when the images themselves live on external storage.
- Let the catalog upgrade finish in one pass on first launch. Interrupting it on a large library means starting over.
- Build standard previews on import if you cull straight after a shoot, it costs time once and saves it repeatedly.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.
Frequently Asked
No. This is Classic, the desktop catalog application. Your files stay on your own disks.
Yes. It is upgraded to the current schema on first open and the previous catalog file is left in place as a fallback.
It runs without one but takes considerably longer. Any modern discrete card makes it practical for batch work.
