Overview

Most disk problems fall into three categories: the layout is wrong, the data is gone, or the hardware is failing. This tool covers all three, which is why it tends to end up on the technician's stick rather than a folder of single purpose utilities. Partition editing, file recovery, imaging and surface diagnostics share one interface and one view of the disk.

Partition work covers the full set of operations without a reformat: resize, move, split, merge, create, delete, format, set active, change identifiers, convert between the older and newer partitioning schemes, and align partitions for solid state drives. Operations are queued and reviewed before being applied, and the ones that can be done without data loss are clearly separated from the ones that cannot.

Recovery is a genuine strength rather than a bullet point. Deleted file recovery scans the file system structures directly, a deep scan reconstructs files from signatures when the structures are gone, lost partitions are found and rebuilt from the disk itself, and recovery works across the common Windows and Linux file systems including from formatted and repartitioned volumes. Everything is previewed before being written anywhere.

The remaining modules handle migration and diagnosis. Sector level cloning copies a disk to a larger or smaller target with resizing, system migration moves a Windows install to a new drive and repairs the boot configuration so it starts, imaging writes a full backup file, and surface scanning with health reporting identifies a failing drive before it takes everything with it. Virtual disk formats can be created, mounted and edited directly.

Key Features

  • Resize, move, split, merge, create, delete and format partitions without a reformat
  • Conversion between the older and newer partitioning schemes without data loss
  • Deleted file recovery from the file system structures with full preview before writing
  • Deep signature based scanning for formatted and structurally damaged volumes
  • Lost partition recovery rebuilding the table from the disk itself
  • Sector level disk cloning with resizing onto larger or smaller targets
  • System migration to a new drive with boot configuration repair
  • Full disk imaging and restore with incremental support
  • Surface scanning, health reporting and bad sector handling
  • Virtual disk creation, mounting and direct editing

What Changed in This Build

  • Faster deep scan on very large volumes
  • Improved recovery accuracy on newer file system layouts
  • Clone operations handle drives with differing sector sizes more reliably
  • Health reporting extended with more drive attributes

Installation Notes

  • Never recover files onto the same volume you are recovering from, writing there can destroy what you are trying to retrieve.
  • If a drive is physically failing, image it first and work from the image rather than repeatedly scanning the failing hardware.
  • Review the queued operation list before applying, some partition changes cannot be reversed once written.

Before You Start

Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.

There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.

If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.

Frequently Asked

Can it recover from a formatted drive?

Often yes, as long as little has been written since. A deep scan reconstructs files from signatures when the structures are gone.

Is resizing safe?

Non destructive resizing is reliable, but a backup first is still the correct answer. Power loss mid operation is the real risk.

Will migration produce a bootable drive?

Yes. Boot configuration is repaired as part of the migration, though firmware boot order still needs setting afterwards.
