Overview
Driver management on Windows is a problem that never quite got solved. Windows Update carries some drivers, manufacturers carry others, and a fresh install on a laptop from a defunct brand leaves you hunting a support page that no longer exists. Driver Booster addresses that by maintaining its own large driver database and matching it against the hardware it finds.
The scan enumerates every device, compares installed driver versions against the database, and presents what is outdated, what is missing, and what is a game ready or chipset level update worth taking. Graphics, chipset, network, audio, storage controller, printer, scanner, camera and peripheral drivers are all covered, including the obscure ones from manufacturers who stopped publishing years ago.
The safety layer matters more than the update itself. Every change is preceded by an automatic system restore point and an individual driver backup, so any update can be rolled back individually rather than requiring a full system restore. The backup archive can be exported before a clean install and restored afterwards, which turns a reinstall from an afternoon of driver hunting into a single operation.
The Pro tier removes the update queue limits and adds the automatic background scanning, priority download, game ready graphics driver channel, and the extra tools for fixing common device problems: no sound, no network, resolution stuck at a low value, and the audio and video device conflicts that follow a bad update.

Installation Notes
- Take the offline driver export before a clean install, particularly the network driver, otherwise the tool cannot download anything on the fresh system.
- Update drivers in small batches rather than all at once so a problem is easy to trace back to the change that caused it.
- Skip a graphics driver update immediately before deadline work. A stable driver you know is better than a newer one you have not tested.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.
Frequently Asked
Not necessarily. Chipset, network and storage drivers are usually worth taking. If a device works correctly, leaving it alone is a defensible choice.
Yes, individually. Each driver is backed up before replacement and can be rolled back from the recovery section.
Scanning works offline. Downloading does not, which is why the offline export exists for fresh installs.
