Overview

KMSAuto++ is the small utility that sits at the end of a great many Windows and Office installs. It runs as a single portable executable, does not install itself into the system, and presents one window with a short list of buttons rather than a wizard that walks you through nine screens of options you do not need.

The tool works by standing up a local key management service on the machine itself and pointing the operating system or the office suite at it. Nothing about that process leaves the computer, which is why it works identically on a workstation with no network connection and on one behind a restrictive corporate firewall. The service is torn down again once the licence state is written, so nothing is left listening.

The interface exposes the practical controls without hiding them behind an advanced tab. Product selection lets you target Windows only, Office only or both. Key installation, licence status inspection and a full state reset are separate buttons rather than a single automatic pass, so a machine that has been through several previous attempts can be cleaned out and rebuilt rather than layered over. A log pane records every command issued and every response received, which is the difference between diagnosing a failure and guessing at one.

A scheduled task can be registered to renew the licence state periodically without any further interaction, and it is optional rather than silently created. The utility also carries a set of maintenance helpers that are useful outside its main purpose, including a Windows edition switcher, a product key reader that reports what is currently installed, and an uninstall routine that removes the task and every trace of the tool when you are finished with it.

Installation Notes

• Run it after the product it targets is fully installed and has been opened once, not during setup.
• Real time protection frequently quarantines tools in this category because of what they modify. Restore from quarantine or add an exclusion for the folder before running.
• Use the reset button first on a machine that has had several previous attempts made on it, then run the normal pass on a clean state.
