Overview

This exists for one specific and very common situation: a freshly installed machine with no network driver, therefore no way to download a network driver. Every online driver tool is useless at that moment. This one carries the entire library locally, which is why it is large, and why anyone who reinstalls machines regularly keeps a copy on a stick permanently.

The library spans generations of hardware rather than only current parts. Chipset, storage controllers, wired and wireless network adapters, audio codecs, graphics from every vendor including the older integrated parts, card readers, cameras, touchpads, bluetooth radios, printers and the assorted motherboard devices that show up as unknown. Old laptops whose manufacturer support page disappeared years ago are the case it handles best.

Operation is a scan and a list. Detected hardware is matched against the library, missing and outdated drivers are shown with the version that would be installed, and everything selected installs in one pass with a restore point taken first. An expert mode exposes the individual packages for anyone who wants to install the chipset driver first and reboot before touching anything else, which is the correct order on a fresh build.

Because the whole library is local, the entire process runs with the network adapter unconfigured and no connection available. The usual sequence is to install the operating system, run this from a stick, take the network driver, reboot, and then decide whether to take the rest from here or from the manufacturer. Either way the machine is online within a few minutes rather than after an evening of hunting on another computer.

Installation Notes

• Write it to a portable drive of 32 GB or larger before you reinstall a machine, not afterwards when there is no way to fetch it.
• Install the chipset driver first and restart before taking the rest, that ordering avoids most of the odd failures people report.
• Take the network driver from here and then decide whether to take the rest from the manufacturer, which is usually the better long term choice.

Before You Start

Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.

There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
