Overview

Coverage is deliberately wide because the tool is aimed at machines nobody has looked at in years. The desktop editions across several Windows generations are handled, the server editions are handled, and the Office suites are covered from the older perpetual releases through the current ones. Where an edition is genuinely unsupported it says so on the screen instead of running and failing silently, which is more than a lot of tooling in this category manages.

Installation Notes

• Run it as administrator. Without elevation the interface opens but every method fails on permissions.
• Take the backup before a major system upgrade so the state can be restored afterwards without rerunning anything.
• Security suites often flag this whole category on classification rather than behaviour. Expect a prompt.

Before You Start

Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
