Overview

The Ultimate edition is the maintenance suite and the security product in one package, which for a lot of home machines is the whole software budget in a single install. The maintenance half cleans, repairs and tunes, the protection half scans and blocks, and both report into one dashboard so a non technical user has a single place to look.

The maintenance side runs from a scan that covers junk files, registry problems, broken shortcuts, startup entries, disk fragmentation, privacy traces and a long list of system settings that have drifted from sensible defaults. Everything is presented as a list with plain descriptions and can be applied selectively or all at once, and a restore point is taken before the changes are written.

Performance tuning goes further than most cleaners. Startup entries can be delayed rather than only disabled, background services are grouped into profiles for different use cases, memory is released on demand, and a dedicated mode suspends non essential background activity for gaming or heavy work and restores it afterwards. A deep optimisation pass tunes network parameters and disk settings against the hardware it finds.

The protection half adds a real time antivirus engine with signature and behaviour based detection, a browser hardening module that blocks tracking, resets hijacked search settings and warns on known bad destinations, a firewall assistant, webcam and microphone access control, and a ransomware watch on the folders you nominate. Updates run automatically and the scan schedule is configurable per module.

Installation Notes

• Do not run two real time antivirus engines at once. Remove or disable the other one before enabling the protection module.
• Review the scan results before applying them the first time, saved sessions and stored passwords sit in the same privacy categories as the junk.
• Leave the restore point option enabled, it is the cheapest insurance in the suite.

Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
