Overview

IObit Uninstaller does the same fundamental job as every tool in this category, running an application's own uninstaller and then removing what it left behind, but its distinguishing quality is bulk. Programs are selected with checkboxes and removed in a queue, so clearing thirty pieces of accumulated software off a machine is one operation rather than thirty separate wizards.

The listing itself is more informative than the control panel entry it replaces. Programs are grouped as recently installed, large, infrequently used and bundleware, which between them identify almost everything a person actually wants gone. Install size, install time expressed relative to now, and a user rating drawn from other people's removal decisions all appear next to each entry.

Removal runs in two stages. The program's own uninstaller executes first, then a powerful scan looks for the files, folders and registry entries it left behind, presenting them for confirmation before removal. A restore point is created beforehand. For programs whose uninstaller is broken or missing entirely, forced removal scans for their traces directly and clears them without needing the original uninstaller to work at all.

The extra modules cover the rest of the clutter problem. Browser extension and toolbar management across the major browsers, including the ones that installed themselves quietly alongside something else. A software updater that checks installed programs against current versions. Windows application and plugin removal for components the normal interface refuses to touch. A file shredder for removing files that should not be recoverable, and a startup manager for programs that removed their entry but kept their launch task.

Installation Notes

  • Review the batch selection before starting. Removing thirty programs in one run is efficient right up until one of them was needed.
  • Let it create the restore point rather than skipping it to save time.
  • Check the bundleware group first on a new machine. It usually finds several things nobody chose to install.

Before You Start

Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.

There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.

If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.

Frequently Asked

How is it different from the control panel?

Batch removal, leftover scanning after the fact, forced removal for broken uninstallers, and the extension and startup modules.

What is the bundleware group?

Software that arrived alongside something else rather than being chosen deliberately. It is usually the first thing worth clearing.

Is forced removal safe?

It scans for a specific program's traces and lists them for confirmation, with a restore point taken first. Read the list before confirming.
