Overview
iTop VPN is a desktop client that routes your traffic through a server elsewhere, which changes two things: the address the far end sees, and whether anyone on the local network can read what you are doing. Both of those matter more on hotel and cafe connections than most people assume, and the client is built so that turning it on is one button rather than a configuration exercise.
Server selection is organised by what you want rather than by protocol detail. There are lists grouped for general browsing, for streaming, for gaming where latency is the priority, and for transfers where throughput matters more, alongside a plain country list for anyone who knows exactly where they want to appear. A ping column and a load indicator make the choice obvious without trial and error.
The protection features are the part worth configuring once. The kill switch drops all traffic if the tunnel fails rather than quietly falling back to the open connection, split tunnelling lets named applications bypass the tunnel so a local printer or a banking app keeps working normally, and per application rules can force specific programs through the tunnel while everything else goes direct.
Around that sit the smaller tools: a DNS leak test, an IP checker showing what the far end currently sees, an automatic connect rule for untrusted networks, a browser privacy cleaner for cached identifiers, and a compact mode that shrinks the window to a status strip. Protocol selection covers the modern tunnelling options with an automatic mode that picks whichever one the current network does not block.
Key Features
- Server lists grouped by purpose alongside a plain country list, with ping and load shown
- Kill switch that drops traffic entirely if the tunnel fails
- Split tunnelling so named applications bypass the tunnel
- Per application rules forcing specific programs through the tunnel
- Protocol selection with an automatic mode for restrictive networks
- Automatic connect when joining an untrusted or unknown network
- DNS leak test and an address checker showing what the far end sees
- Browser privacy cleaner for cached identifiers and stored traces
- Connection log with session duration and transferred volume
- Compact status strip mode for leaving it visible while working
What Changed in This Build
- Server list expanded with additional locations and clearer load reporting
- Reconnection after a network change is considerably faster
- Split tunnelling rules now survive an application update changing its path
- Interface reworked with a single panel for protection settings

Installation Notes
- Enable the kill switch before you rely on the tunnel for anything. Without it a dropped connection silently falls back to the open route.
- Add your printer software and any local network tools to split tunnelling, otherwise they will fail to find devices on your own network.
- A virtual adapter is installed during setup. Some firewalls prompt about it once, allow it or the client cannot connect.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.
Frequently Asked
Some, always. A nearer server with low load costs less than a distant one, which is why the ping and load columns are there.
The automatic protocol mode exists for that. It tries the alternatives until one is not blocked.
Yes, through split tunnelling. Per application rules can also do the opposite and force a program through it.
