Overview
MiniTool Power Data Recovery approaches recovery by scan target rather than by file type, which turns out to be the more useful framing. Choose a logical drive, a physical disk, a specific folder, a lost partition or a removable device, and the scan is shaped to that target rather than sweeping everything and asking you to sort it out afterwards.
The scan itself runs progressively, listing results as it finds them so recovery can start before the full pass finishes. Results are presented three ways at once: by original path where directory information survived, by file type for signature recovered content, and filtered by size, extension and modification age, with a preview for images, documents, audio and video so you can confirm a file is intact before restoring it.
Coverage extends across the situations that actually happen. Files emptied from the recycle bin, a volume that was formatted, a partition that vanished from the disk after a failed operation, a drive that reports as raw and will not mount, a memory card that a camera declared unreadable, and virtual disk images. A partition recovery pass rebuilds the volume layout before the file scan begins.
The higher tiers add the tools for doing this professionally. Enterprise covers server operating systems and unlimited machines, Technician adds the bootable rescue environment for machines that will not start, sector level disk imaging so a failing drive is read once and then worked from the image, and portable operation from removable media so nothing is written to the affected system at all.
Key Features
- Scan by logical drive, physical disk, specific folder, lost partition or removable device
- Progressive results so recovery can begin before the full scan completes
- Results presented by original path, by file type and by filtered criteria simultaneously
- Preview of images, documents, audio and video before committing to a restore
- Partition recovery rebuilding a missing or damaged volume layout before scanning
- Recovery from formatted, raw, unmountable and repartitioned volumes
- Support for memory cards, external drives, virtual disk images and mounted containers
- Bootable rescue environment for machines that will not start
- Sector level disk imaging so a failing drive is read once and worked from the image
- Portable operation from removable media so nothing is written to the affected system
What Changed in This Build
- Signature database expanded with further raw photograph and video formats
- Scan speed improved on large volumes holding many small files
- Rescue environment refreshed with a wider storage driver set

Installation Notes
- Never install onto the drive you are recovering from. Use the portable build from removable media when the affected volume is the system disk.
- Recover to a different physical disk. Restoring onto the source is the fastest way to destroy what has not been read yet.
- If the disk is failing, image it first with the Technician tools and scan the image instead of the drive.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.
Frequently Asked
Standard and Deluxe cover ordinary desktop recovery, Enterprise adds server support and unlimited machines, Technician adds rescue media, imaging and portable operation.
Yes, using the bootable rescue environment, which loads independently of the installed operating system.
Where directory records remain, yes. Signature based recovery returns content without names, sorted by file type instead.
