Overview

OriginPro is what a spreadsheet becomes when the point of the data is a figure rather than a total. Data lands in worksheets or matrices, an analysis is applied, and a plot comes out that is genuinely publication ready, with control over every axis, tick, label, legend entry, error bar and layer arrangement down to a level general purpose spreadsheet software never attempts.

The plot type list runs to well over a hundred templates: line, scatter, column, area, box, violin, contour, heat map, ternary, polar, waterfall, three dimensional surface, vector and specialist statistical layouts. Multi layer figures put several plots into one graph with linked or independent axes, which is how a paper figure with panels is actually built rather than assembled afterwards in a drawing program.

Analysis is the other half. Linear, polynomial, non linear and multiple regression with a large fitting function library and user defined functions, peak analysis with baseline correction, deconvolution and integration, signal processing with filtering and transforms, statistics from descriptives through hypothesis testing to survival and multivariate analysis, and interpolation and smoothing across the usual methods.

Everything is recomputable, which is the feature that saves the most time in practice. Analysis results are linked to their source data, so replacing an input recalculates every dependent fit and redraws every dependent graph. An analysis template captures the whole chain, import through analysis through figure, and applies it to the next dataset in one operation, along with batch processing across a folder of files.

Key Features

  • Over a hundred two and three dimensional plot types with full element level control
  • Multi layer graphs with linked or independent axes for panelled figures
  • Curve fitting from linear through non linear with a large function library and custom functions
  • Peak analysis with baseline correction, deconvolution, integration and multi peak fitting
  • Statistics covering descriptives, hypothesis testing, survival and multivariate methods
  • Signal processing with filtering, smoothing, transforms and correlation
  • Recalculation links so replacing source data updates every dependent result and figure
  • Analysis templates capturing import through analysis through figure as one reusable operation
  • Batch processing across a folder of data files with consolidated result reporting
  • Export to vector and raster formats at defined resolution for journal submission

What Changed in This Build

  • New plot templates added across statistical and three dimensional categories
  • Faster recalculation on projects holding many linked analyses
  • Import filters updated for further instrument output formats
  • Graph export dialog reorganised with per journal presets

Installation Notes

  • Build an analysis template the first time you do a repeated workflow. The second dataset then takes one click instead of an afternoon.
  • Leave recalculation on automatic unless a project becomes slow, then switch to manual and recalculate deliberately.
  • Export figures as vector output for print. Raster export at screen resolution is the usual cause of a rejected submission.

Before You Start

Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.

There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.

If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.

Frequently Asked

What does the Professional edition add?

The advanced analysis modules, peak and surface fitting, the broader statistics set and the batch processing tools on top of the standard graphing.

Can it import from my instrument?

There is a long list of import filters for common instrument output formats, plus a configurable importer for anything text based.

Do figures update when data changes?

Yes. Analyses and graphs are linked to their source, so replacing an input recalculates and redraws everything downstream.
