Overview
Typing long messages on a phone keyboard while sitting in front of a full sized one is a small, constant irritation, and this removes it. The desktop client is a native application rather than a wrapped web page, which shows in the places it matters: it starts quickly, it survives being left open for weeks, it uses system notifications properly, and it does not evaporate when a browser decides to reclaim memory.
Message history syncs from the account rather than being limited to what arrives while the client is open, so conversations are searchable from the desktop with the full backlog available. Search covers text, senders, dates in relative terms and media type, and jumping to a result opens the conversation at that point rather than at the bottom.
File handling is the practical advantage over the phone. Documents, images, video and audio are dragged straight from a folder into a conversation, several at once, at full size, without the compression a phone applies. Received files save to a folder of your choosing and open in the desktop applications you already use. Copy and paste works with screenshots directly from the clipboard, which turns sharing a screen grab into two keystrokes.
Voice and video calling run natively with the desktop microphone and camera, including group calls and screen sharing. Notifications integrate with the system notification centre with per conversation muting, and the client can start with the system and sit in the background so messages arrive without the application being launched. Multiple accounts are supported for anyone separating work and personal conversations.

Installation Notes
- Set the download folder before you start receiving media, otherwise it accumulates somewhere you will not think to look.
- Turn off start with system if you would rather not have notifications arriving during focused work.
- Mute noisy group conversations per conversation rather than disabling notifications globally.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.
Frequently Asked
No. This is a native application with proper notifications, file handling and calling, which the browser version does not fully provide.
The desktop client keeps its own connection, so the phone does not need to be online for messages to arrive.
