Overview
PDFelement's argument is that most people need perhaps a dozen things from a PDF application and should not have to navigate a professional prepress interface to reach them. The tools are grouped into plain tabs, the panels stay out of the way until called, and the common operations sit one click from the document rather than three menus deep.
Editing behaves the way people expect it to. Click into a paragraph and type, and the text reflows within it, with the font matched or substituted where the original was not embedded. Images can be replaced, cropped, rotated and repositioned in place, links and bookmarks are editable, page backgrounds, watermarks, headers and footers apply across a document, and pages can be inserted, extracted, split, merged, cropped and reordered from a thumbnail view.
Conversion runs in both directions across a wide format list. PDFs export to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RTF, HTML, EPUB, plain text and image formats with table structure and layout preserved, and almost anything can be turned into a PDF through the virtual printer or by direct import. Batch conversion, batch OCR, batch watermarking and batch encryption all operate on a folder rather than a file at a time.
The professional feature set is complete rather than cut down. OCR in dozens of languages, fillable form creation with automatic field recognition and data extraction into spreadsheets, true redaction that removes the underlying content, metadata sanitisation, password and permission protection, digital signature workflows, document comparison, annotation with comment threads, and page numbering and Bates numbering for document sets.

Installation Notes
- Install the OCR language packs you actually need during setup rather than fetching them later mid task.
- Run OCR before editing a scanned page, otherwise there is no text on the page to edit.
- Use batch mode for repetitive work. Almost every operation here has a folder level equivalent.
Before You Start
Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
There is no archive password on this or any other entry in the library. If something you downloaded elsewhere claims to come from here and asks for one, it did not come from here. Nothing on this site is behind a survey, a shortener or a countdown either.
If the entry does not match what the page describes, say so on the contact page and include the version string from the release details table. Reports naming a specific version get checked first because the checker can reproduce them straight away.
Frequently Asked
For ordinary document work, effectively yes. Prepress, preflight and colour separation are where a professional print oriented tool is still required.
Yes. Data from a set of filled forms can be extracted into a spreadsheet in one batch operation.
