Overview
Manual skin retouching is slow and repetitive, and frequency separation done badly produces the waxy look that gives retouching a bad name. Portraiture exists to solve the volume problem: it builds a skin mask automatically, applies smoothing that preserves pore texture rather than erasing it, and leaves everything outside the mask completely alone, which is where most automatic smoothers fail.
The mask is the important part. Skin is detected by tone range with adjustable hue, saturation and brightness limits, and can be sampled directly from the image with an eyedropper so an unusual skin tone or difficult lighting is handled by pointing at it rather than by fighting a preset. The generated mask can be viewed on its own, which makes it obvious when a wooden background or a beige jacket has been caught and needs the range narrowed.
Smoothing runs across separate detail bands rather than as one blur. Fine, medium and large detail are controlled independently, so blemishes and uneven texture at one scale can be reduced while pore level detail at another is preserved. Alongside the smoothing sit enhancement controls for sharpness, softness, warmth, tint, brightness and contrast applied only inside the mask, which means skin can be evened and warmed without shifting the rest of the frame.
The practical value is at volume. A preset built for one image applies to a whole shoot, and the plugin runs inside the host's own batch process, so several hundred frames from an event or a catalogue shoot get consistent skin treatment in one unattended pass. Every host version is included in the installer, which detects what is on the machine and installs the matching formats.

Installation Notes
- Apply it to a duplicate layer or a smart object so the strength can be pulled back afterwards with layer opacity.
- Check the mask preview before batching. A background in a skin tone range is the usual cause of an odd looking set.
- Build the preset on a representative frame from the shoot rather than the best lit one, so the whole set holds up.
