Overview

Pitch correction is now so much a part of recorded vocals that its absence is the noticeable choice. This collection is built around the plugin that established the technique, and it covers both ends of what people want from it: correction so transparent that nobody knows it was used, and correction so fast and hard that it becomes the sound of the record.

The main plugin works in two modes. Automatic mode corrects in real time against a scale or a key, with retune speed, humanise and flex tune controls deciding how much natural variation survives the process, and the fastest setting producing the fully quantised effect deliberately. Graphical mode draws the detected pitch curve for a whole take and lets it be edited note by note by hand, which is how serious tuning work is actually done.

Around that core the collection covers the rest of vocal production. Harmony generation builds arranged parts from a single take with independent character per voice, a formant and throat modelling module reshapes the perceived vocal tract for anything from subtle body to complete transformation, doubling creates convincing stacked takes from one performance, and a mutation module handles the heavier vocal transformation effects.

The remaining plugins are the everyday tools that end up on a vocal chain: equalisation shaped for voice, dynamics, de essing, saturation, delay and reverb tuned for the same purpose. Everything installs in the standard plugin formats so it loads in any workstation, and low latency operation makes correction usable while tracking rather than only in the mix.

Installation Notes

• Set the key and scale correctly before correcting, wrong scale information pulls notes towards the wrong targets.
• Use graphical mode for anything that matters, automatic mode is for speed and for the deliberate effect.
• Install into the standard plugin folders so your workstation finds everything in a single scan.

Read the notes above before running setup. Most of the problems people write in about are covered there, and almost all of them come down to an older version of the same software still being installed, a graphics driver that predates the release, or a security suite quarantining part of the package mid install.
